In July of 1901 the Swanville Village Council met at the residence of John Wendt.  Five acres of land were purchased from John Wendt for a village Cemetery at $25.00 per acre for uncleared ground and $30.00 per acre for ground cleared.  On July 18 of 1904 it was resolved by motion of the village council that the village cemetery be named the Springbrook Cemetery.
