The City of Swanville was officially incorporated as a village with the recording of the petition to incorporate on May 24th 1893 at 3 PM in Book A-9 of incorporations in the Morrison County Courthouse. The first village council meeting was held June 16 and 17 of 1893.
The City Council meets the first Tuesday after the first Monday of the month.The meetings are at 7:00 PM at the Swanville Center Building. The meetings are conducted using the Robert's Rule of Order.
The elected position of Mayor is a two year term. The elected positions of Council Member are four year terms. The City Clerk/Treasurer is a hired positioned, as is the City Maintenance Position.
